The OpenStack community uses Internet Relay Chat (IRC), an open source protocol, as its primary chat service.

For Linux distributions like Redhat, Fedora, or CentOS open a terminal and type:

sudo dnf install hexchat

For a Windows environment, download the latest Hexchat installation binary from Hexchat download and install it.

닉네임 설정을 편집

  1. 먼저 Nick name 및 User name 필드를 선택한 닉네임으로 채우겠습니다.

  2. 네트워크 목록에서 OFTC 네트워크를 선택해야 합니다.

  • SSL(대체 포트: 9999), IPv4 및 IPv6의 경우 ircs://irc.oftc.net:6697.

  • Non-SSL(대체 포트: 6668-6670, 7000), IPv4 및 IPv6의 경우 irc://irc.oftc.net:6667.

서버 설정 편집

  1. edit 버튼을 클릭합니다.

  2. 이 네트워크의 모든 서버에 대해 SSL 사용 이 선택되어 있는지 확인합니다.

트러블슈팅

  • 닉네임이 이미 사용되었다는 메시지가 표시되면 종료한 후 첫 번째 단계로 돌아가 다른 닉네임을 선택합니다.

닉네임을 등록

아직 계정이 없다면 /msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <e-mail>.`로 계정을 등록할 수 있습니다. `OFTC 가이드 <https://www.oftc.net/Services/#nickserv>`_가 나머지 등록 절차를 참고하십시오. 지침을 따르고 확인 절차를 완료해야 합니다.

닉네임을 사용하여 서버에 처음 로그인하면, 서버에서 사용되지만 아직 등록되지 않았습니다.

A good channel to join right away is the #openstack-dev channel. A lot of people hang around in that channel so come on in and say hello! If there is a specific project you are also interested in working on, feel free to join that one as well and introduce yourself there. It’s also important to note that contributors are located all over the world across different time zones, so channels may be quieter outside of their work hours. Be patient when asking questions, and it might be a while before someone responds. Additionally, keep in mind that IRC does not natively support a message backlog, so you may miss messages sent while you were disconnected. Many contributors keep a persistent IRC session to avoid missing important communications, and IRC 아카이브 can be helpful for catching up on missed messages.

IRC 채널

Each project and working group has its own IRC channel. The common syntax for naming the IRC channels is: #openstack-<name-of-project>, but there are some exceptions. See the contributor guide for each project for specific information. If you fail to find a reference there, don’t hesitate to ask in the general #openstack-dev channel.

IRC 미팅

In OpenStack all the meetings are happening either on generic meeting channels channels like #openstack-meeting, or on specific project channels. Check the list of meetings for meeting times, IRC channels, and archives of meetings.

IRC 아카이브

Most IRC channels are archived, you can read the logs on IRC channel logs.

IRC 봇

IRC allows different programs to listen to the IRC channels and do some actions. These programs are called IRC bots. There are several bots used in the OpenStack IRC channels, this section contains the ones which are useful from the first days of OpenStack development. A more comprehensive list can be found in the OpenDev team IRC page.
